Mk1 vs Mk2 Tuscan
Discussion
I'm in two minds whether to buy a Sagaris or a Tuscan. In many ways the Tuscan seems more useable and you can take the roof off when the weather permits.
What's the difference between the mk1 and mk2? I can see the slight body changes but I'm more interested in the handling. The only review I've seen is from TopGear when JC says the mk1 was a handful but the mk2 is much better. I've been driving 996's, M3's and Elsie's over the past 5 years so I'm used to being looked after by the electrics.
Do I really need the S? If the difference is negligable then I'll buy the non S variant.
From a financial point of view, I'd buy a mk1 with a small loan but would finance a mk2 with a baloon payment. I've read the pages on the SP6 engine and it sounds like a mk1 with engine rebuild is going to be fine, whereas the mk2 has all the uprated componets from the start. I don't particularly want to be hit with a large bill!!

Having had 2 mark Is and now a mark II they are chalk and cheese when it comes to handling.
MarkI have a tendancy to feel very skittish on poorer surfaces which is not helped by the quick acting steering which transfers your small movements to the wheels when things get a bit bumpy.
Have read many threads which suggest that nitrons can transform the MarkI
MarkII has revised suspension and steering rack which largely negate the above feelings.
however having recently driven a markII convertible the suspension on that was too soft allowing too much roll once you were driving enthusiasticaly.
Best bet is to try both at lenght and see which you prefer.
Having driven a Tuscan S I will be looking to change to one at the next opportunity but it depends on how much you are intending to use the performance.
Whichever you end up getting you will not regret it they are all fantastic.
