Tailgating a Tuscan
Discussion
Had a call from a mate with a Tuscan last week..
One of his mega loud rear can's was stress fractured all the
way round and was hanging down ..
His normal garage was very busy as the owner was off on holiday after that day and could not fit him in - so he asked if I could help.
No problem - we welded it up (stainless) pretty quick but it seemed a pretty flawed design with all of the weight of the can on the rear seam where it meets the pipe.
The other side had gone on too and had already been fixed.
Has anyone else seem the same problem .. ?
Any fixes - additional mountings, ultra light cans etc ?
After seeing it - I sure won't be tail gating a Tuscan

Both mine disintegrated and fell off after I had had the car about 6 weeks. See this thread:-

When i first saw the title of this thread, I was thinking "oh yeah, tailgating a
Tuscan, right, yeah whatever" It would have to be something really special to do that,
as they aren't the slowest thing in the world.... but
One of mine was on the way out the other week, luckily I noticed it when I was at Fernies, so glad
as its another 100 miles on the way back to Bournemouth, and a Carbon Can bouncing down the M27
would not be cool. Anyway all welded back up and all happy again.
Not sure on a fix for it, as not matter what cans you have, all the weight is placed on that weld.
How do Carbon Cans fair against the originals in the weight department?

You sure would notice the change of exhaust note too.
PARDON? Sorry I could not hear you

Err...actually not.
One of my CCC cans was at a strange angle the other day and I noticed that the weld had gone at the top where the can slides in (oh no matron!) to the silencer box. As my dealer is 30 miles away and I didnt want to risk the can falling off on the way over I took it off.
No discernable increase in noise level!!! I've realised now what CCC cans do. Absolutely nothing!!
(This is a design fault. It's the second time its happened on this car (just had her 1st birthday) and the first time was with standard cans fitted. The lads at HHC have really welded it up big time now.
Really there should be some other form of support for the can.)[quote=unrepentant

When mine fell off on the way to a meet I thought the engine had blown. It vibrated through the car and made a right noise. Luckily enough the A19 wasn't too busy so I was able to pull real quick and run back up the road to retrieve. A bit scratched now so will be looking at replacing.
