Driver's side just got tired and fell off!

Inevitable, I suppose, the plastic is inflexible and, over time had cracked around all four fixing points. So it's now given up completely. Doesn't look repairable either, the plastic has shattered into small pieces at each point.

And doesn't it look an unsightly mess without the back on!

Still, looking on the bright side I've got all sorts of options like putting new ones on that are painted to match the exterior.....although the "silver" finish goes well inside my "all-chrome-knobbed" interior

Any ideas how much £££ new ones will set me back - are there any alternatives I should be thinking about??

Don't know about new ones - but this has happened alot so I know that the old ones are repairable if you want to keep them. Best thing is to get some large flat metal washers with a hole through them big enough to accomodate the bolts. You can either Aradlite or GRP mat them into place.

Problem (IMHO) is that the lumbar supports inflate and puch back onto the seat back panels so the mounting holes take quite a bit of strain.

Doh! Of course - I hadn't thought that!

I'm not convinced a repair is feasible, the bottom ones are a coupe of inches all round, but the top bolt area has shattered off big lumps all round the recessed badge area - never be strong enough to be able to bolt on without looking pretty ugly!

I would not have thought that replacements would be all that expensive anyway. I used to watch the TMS website for parts, but it is such a long time since I have ever needed to buy any bits and bobs I don't know where to get them these days. I seem to remember that they were quite reasonably priced as I was looking at a set of silver or gold backed ones several years ago. Thing that put me off was that anything that is painted can get scratched. Not by me, but other people are never as careful with your possessions as yourself, I have come to learn. The seat back are a known weak spot because the lumbar supports can be over inflated and then something has to give!

There was someone on here doing carbon fibre ones a while ago. Not sure who/how much though. Not really much help that, sorry.

Benno, what about contacting one of the breakers yards that are advertised on here or in sprint.
