Here's one for ya. I took my Tuscan 2 on it's first track day as soon as I had 6000 on the clock and discovered the delights of the upper rev range
. I'm taking it on it's second track day soon but have a small concern.... The Tuscan 2 logs the maximum RPM reached by the engine and following the first track day it was showing 9000rpm. I did bounce it off the rev limiter a couple of times but I'm concerned the rev limiter may be set too high. I didn't over rev it with down changes. My question is what is the maximum rev limit for this engine (4.0L not an "S" ) and can the limiter be checked/set by the owner? Also..... how accurate is the logged rpm figure?

I was led to believe, by TVR Power, that the limiter was set to 7250rpm on the standard chip. Would be interested in how you got the max rpm reading. Which buttons did you press?
I used the the buttons on the back of the wheel. Have a look it's interesting in a nerd sort of way

In my mk1 S I did ONCE miss a gear in mine and when I got home I checked the max RPM recorded value and ......9000 was on the display...I thought
, checked with a dealer and was advised that a few they had seen have had this figure recorded and it is believed to be erroneous.....however 2 weeks later mine went clank, rattle, rattle, cough, pop.....Its been in Autocraft ever since. But I still believe it to be an incorrect value your looking at. When you think about it there's a hell of a lot of mass spinning round in there and plenty would break big style if the figure was even remotely possible. I would'nt worry too much, but in future carefully observe the red change up light. Perhaps setting all a few hundred Rpm lower would help. It's what I intend to do when I get mine back.
Good luck

I've got my red change up light set to 7000 so yes maybe it is a little high so I think I'll drop it to 6500 as I'm sure my reactions aren't as quick as the speed revs increase. It's going in soon to have the top end checked out and an oil change at Gatwick before the next track day so I'll check with them on the rev limiter settings.
No need to worry - the max revs is factory set - if you look at max speed, it'll show something like 230mph, too - as somebody said earlier up this e-mail chain, when you first switch the car on, and the dials sweep round, the needles go right up to the top (i.e. 9k revs and 230mph), which is why it gets recorded. It's a huge jump from 6k to 9k, so I'm sure you'd notice.
Don't know if there is a hardset rev limit, though.
Can anybody confirm if there is?
