I have just returned from the Furball 5000. Some thousands of miles around Europe France, Monaco, Italy and Switzerland - 8 days of Petrolhead Nirvana.

Anyway, my point is, that my Tuscan Mk1 (Jan 03) behaved/handled fantastically, the fluid levels were all checked before I went and didn't once need to be topped up (after daily checks) the temps and pressures were fabulous despite some fairly confident driving (many of the marks were having to add fluids on a daily basis). Had a few EFI warnings at the top of the Stelvio Pass but that was put down to altitude and went away on the way down.

I had thought that a trip of this size was perhaps a bit ambitious in a Tusky (Le Mans being the furthest I've been in Europe in it) but mine handled perfectly and any deep-seated concerns I had about Tuscan reliability have been firmly booted out of my mind.

I even managed to get over 150 mph out of him!!

MY TUSCAN ROCKS !!

Great news Jo - 2 posts (my own journey to Scotland and back) in 3 days about the reliability of Mk 1's over long, high mileage journeys is positive reading indeed. Glad to hear it was a top event as well. Pictures!

Hi MB

I was so excited to post my news I didn't check for other similar posts :-o

Your experience of the Tuscan definately echos mine on those longer trips.

I was stongly considering the new Marcos but this has really turned my attitude around about the Tuscan Mk1. (Also huge boot in the Tusky - us girls like that for all our stuff!!)

I too have just returned from a 1600 mile round trip to South of France without any problems at all despite over 110 deg heat!! & 10 hour constant drive home.
I did see quite a few of the Gumball cars coming back last sat night on the Tunnel including a Black Tuscan, Yellow Tamora, Orange Diablo & 355 Ferrari.
The other amazing thing about driving in France is the amount of people who pull alonside you taking photo's & crowd round the car at service stations taking pics!

Cheers

Hi Kippax - that was our group - does that consitute a spotted!! We saw your car in the Chunnel car park and parked diagonally opposite - I was in the Navy Tuscan.

Know what you mean about TIV's drawing attention - in Monaco they couldn't get enough of them!

That's excellent news, although I am very jealous in that you not only own a Tuscan but also went on the Furball with it! A mate of mine went too, but I haven't caught up with him yet. Sounds like a good time was had by all though......

Yep definately a spotted if you were behind me it was probably yours I saw not a black one. I was originally down to go to Gumball but as it clashed with my wedding anniversary I was unable to get away with it

That Furball was my most ambitious trip ever, I was completely out of my comfort zone (especially as I did not have a co-pilot) but thanks to such a great bunch of guys was thoroughly fun and it will definitely be difficult to top!

Who is your friend - we have a reunion coming up soon!

Hi Cookie who was it that took the footage of our little Tuscan race, I'd love to see that footage again and your interesting use of the hard shoulder - that was soooo much fun. What speeds did you get out of yours in the end?

Try this for size, 1100 miles 15 hours from Italy cruising between 85 and 100, with a quick blat to 150 on a near deserted Autostrada only stopping for fuel and a couple of accidents/roadworks. Problems with the car? Yes, slightly increased wind noise at above mentioned top speed!!! oh and a very sore arse today. Even the fuel consumption was on the good side of ok. Not a record I know but when you think about the excitement and enjoyment these cars give I can't think of another make that can do so many things so well. Who said Tuscans rock?

Hi Jo,

Had a quick blat up to about 165, but not for long as I find the wind noise gets a bit OTT with the top off. And yes, who was it with the camcorder?

Colin

P.S. Still got that bonnet catch patch?

His name is Dave McCarthy, and I'm presuming he went but I haven't caught up with since before the event.

Glad to hear you had a good time, I've been dying to do another event like this but the spare cash and a decent car have escaped me the past couple of years.

Not DMC!!! - look out for the photos of him dancing in a podium cage in a night club in Swissyland - classic, and..... classy!

Edited to say: Although apparently I am bound by the rules WGOTSOT (what goes on tour stays on tour) so perhaps I shouldn't have mentioned it!!! ;-)

Cookie, you know, I have a feeling it was DMC/James who took it! 165mph eh! I got 160ish out of my Griff but not out of the Tuscan yet!!

Next time....

I took the bonnet patch off and carefully cleared up all the stickyness but had a little blatt up to Cambridge this week and it's popping undone again. Will get it sorted when next in the garage I think something must have loosened when I had the slave cylinder sorted.

Yeah, that's him! As for him dancing in a podium cage, I'm not the least bit surprised......spent the best part of a week with him on CBRE2004 and a few nights out down London way, so I'm familiar with the antics! lol

Hiya Jo,

Glad to hear you are still Rocking & Rolling. 150 MPH you Bad Bad Girl.

Seems you have not changed from Le Mans then. Are you coming to the Sunday showing at the R&C this weekend? It will be nice to see you again.

Cheers
Paul
