guys, could do with some serious advice.

had my car up for sale for a few weeks and had very little "genuine" interest. a couple of tyre kickers and a few international email scams and i've i have reduced it already buy a £1000. I can afford to reduce further if needed but i've also had a dealer offer my a lot less then it's advertised (£3000 less) to take it off my hands.

add is here: www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/85893.htm is there anything wrong with the ad? Not had much experience in selling cars to be honest so if there is anything wrong or missing i would love to know.

I'm worried at the moment over all the potential scams esp with bankers drafts so the dealers offer is the cleanest and less chance of any problems. So my honest question is:

1. reduce it by another £1000 and fingers crossed that this price attracts serious buyers
2. Take the offer and loose a lot of money but have the car gone.
3. hold tight and see what happens as there is noting wrong with the car and it's only been advertised for a few weeks.

If i go with option 1 and it sells then i will have lost more then i planned but have a little back. if i take the dealers offer i walk away with very little but less hassle. Option 3 is ok but the dealers offer wont be on the table for ever as they have a potential buyer for my car.

what would you do?

thanks in advance. Rick

p.s. this is not a crude trick to get more attention to my car but a genuine request for advice. thanks

Hi Rick

Seems a genuine price for your car with some great pics and well worded add you can't really do much more.

Depending how desperate you are for a sale I would hold on at the same price for as long as poss if nothing then drop it down.

Have you tried advertising any where else, E bay, Auto Trader, X and Mart ??

Remember the dealers offer will always be there so that is last resort.

Some cars can take a very long time to sell Tuscans are notorious for that.
Good luck mate your get there in the end.

thanks mate. yes the car is also advertised in top marques. I'm disappointed in the response from the ad's as there is nothing wrong with the car and "seems" to me to be good value for money in terms of condition / mileage etc. but i would feel more confident if the phone was ringing more (except for those annoying agency calls). I'm not desperate to sell but do want to sell it if that makes sense. have no experience of selling a TVR hence my post here for advice.

Decided to bite the bullet and trade my car in on saturday for a drastically reduced amount so someone out there is going to get a real bargain unless of course someone offers me more then their offer before then but i doubt it..

sad to see it go especailly for so little.

David,

thanks mate. i can afford to keep on trying to sell it but i've had no real genuine interest and i'm not driving the car at all hence why i'm going to trade it in. If however someone wants it very cheap before sat then i happy to but there you go.

hi guys,

yes i know that i could use the sale or return route or even live with the car and put a child seat in but in my heart i want to sell it and go from there so trading it back and taking the hit is the cleanest way. What i would love is for someone to see the advert, call me and offer me more the the dealer thus making me a little bit more and them a real deal but i cannot see it happening before saturday so there you go.

thanks again.

It's a familiar story I'm afraid. My own Tuscan is really great and I've reduced it by several times your discount, and now it's more than £10k less than yours!

I think I may keep mine now. Too good value for money and an excellent back-up and sunny-day car that I won't be putting too many more miles on...

Good luck.

guys, looks like i've been saved at the 11th hour. I had agreed to trade it in on saturday but on friday night had a buyer round who loved the car and placed a £500 cash deposit so i walked away with more then i hoped but still less of a hit then i wanted. We need to do all the fiancial bits later this week.

thanks for all the advice btw.
