you may get a better response when it's in the correct section.

I wanted it in general chat because that way i could have got a general over view of the car! If its in a TVR forum, then people will obviously say they are great, & rightly so, but it defeats the object really because i wanted people who may know someone with one to maybe tell me of any horror stories they have come across, or peolpe who have had problems with them, or peolpe who have generally had no problems whatsoever...

I know what you mean, however I've been browsing the Griff, Chimera and Tuscan forums for some time whilst saving for my first Tiv and you get a better idea of the real problems you're going to face rather than the problems as seen by the like of J Clarkson esq.

Remember, a TVR isn't a eurobox that will do 150,000 trouble free miles with only an oil change every third year. It will require a degree of mechanical sympathy with rgard to warming up, there will be niggles and occasionaly a major hiccup. I know 'coz' its happened to me. Still love the car though, nothing else i've ever driven gets the same positive response from the people who see it, I've never had anything else with the level of performance, I know that I will run out of talent long before the car will.

Don't blow your whole budget on the first one you see, keep some back for running costs. Read the threads, there is a mountain of info here and everyone seems to be helpful if you have a question.

Do it, you won't regret it.

Lyndon - see this thread

www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=59360&f=5&h=0

which will give you a basic intro, but there is no substitute to spending considerable time on this forum, as well as the Speed Six and General TVR forums.

And as such you would likely get very little response. Many folk whom have owned a Tuscan and experienced such ownership but passed their cars on, still frequent the Tuscan forum. JSG is a very typical example. I suggest you do as others have said and research the historical pages within this and the Speed 6 engine forums. The info within, if you have the patience to read thro it, is very valueble and may help you avoid buying a dog.

My best advice would be...do not buy one if you intend to run it on a shoe string budget. They are quite expensive to keep on the road, especially if an engine fails....like mine did. However I do not regret my purchase its an awesome driving experience.

I would have thought that if you are trying to find out about Tucans, it would be better suited to ask the people who actually do and have owned them rolleyes

But if you disagree with that, just shout and I'll move it to whatever forum you wish!
