Battery problems...

I've had a couple of annoying flat battery incidents recently... The first was about a week ago which I sorted out with jumper leads & a long drive after she started. However, I had the same problem this morning when I went to start the car after having started, driven & parked it not more than half an hour beforehand (& no the lights weren't left on). Has anyone had similar problems? I'm guessing it's the battery & not the starter motor because I was able to start it with jumper leads the first time it happened. Following that logic it's probably just a case of replacing the battery. Anyone have another opinion about what the problem is? Also, how's the battery accessed, removed & replaced on a Tuscan S?

Possibly the battery if it's more than three years old best to replace it, or it could be the 100 amp fuse from the alternator that has broken preventing the battery being charged ,this is located on the rear bulkhead under the airbox which has to be removed to gain access. The battery location is behind the N/S front wheel which has to be removed to gain access to the panel covering the battery. Keep your keys to hand when you disconnect/re-connect the battery as the doors can lock themselves.

It sounds like it's new battery time, but what's the voltage showing on your dash with the engine running?

The batteries don't last very long on Tuscans as they are right next to the exhaust and get cooked. You get to it through a removable panel inside the rear of the passenger side wheel arch. Take off the wheel and you should see 2 bolts on the top edge of this panel holding it on. The bottom is shaped to hook round the chassis rail, and it's probably stuck on with sealant.

After all that I can confirm that it was the battery... And I had a timeconsuming job finding one that fitted the compartment. Ended up buying one off the shelf from London TVR. Thanks for the help, fellas.

I have the same problem. My manual is locked in the car. Does anybody know where the door release catch is located. I thought it was behind the rear number plate but its not. Help please.

Thats correct, it's not there. As a new member on PH with only 1 post no one is going to tell you how to break into a Tuscan on this site. I suggest you phone your TVR dealer. Unless of course someone can vouch for you.
