Hi all,
Am coming to the end of my tether with the pod in my mk1 Tuscan. It has been slowly losing lines for the last year, until a couple of weeks ago (after it was left out on the drive for a few months and got fairly damp) I had none at all - couldn't see anything. I took it for a couple of hours drive and about half of the lines have come back so that I can at least use the rev counter.

Is there anywhere I can buy a new one from, or is it dealer only? Furthermore, how much is it? I am also interested in whether it is easy to change, in which case I'll have a go myself rather than paying dealer labour rates for a what might be a trivial piece of work.

(p.s. if there is anyone in the West Yorks area who has done this, and I can get hold of a spare part I'll more than happily exchange a few local beers for a hand in doing it )

Cheers,
Gordon.

Call Leven Technology in Basildon Essex I think the display is approx £125.00 and its better than the original.

Or try Clever Trevor. I understand that their man behind the scenes has also developed a better product than the original.

Had a new LCD display in mine a few months back, now perfect.
Fear not, it can be fixed!

It's an easy fix. Dom at TVR Power changed mine whilst I waited....

Thanks for the advice guys. I have requested a quote from Clever Trevor and Keith has sent me a very helpful mail, and indicated a 7 day turn around. My question now is given that I am only moderately useful with a screwdriver (and hammer!) is it easy to remove? How do I go about getting the pod out?

Cheers,
Gordon.

My understanding is this is not that straightforward a task (especially if you're as technically inept as I am!). When I've enquired aboit it before, it has been suggested soldering is involved...

I'd like to know how to do this too, I've only one line missing when it's cold, but I imagine it will get worse!

This is how mine started. Only when it was cold, it would be fine after 10 mins. But over the last year, the more damp and cold it has been, the worse it has got and the longer it takes to recover.

I don't mind re-soldering, I was more asking simply how to get it out so that I can send it away to Keith for him to fix.

But if it is only a re-soldering job I might also be tempted to fix it myself. scratchchin

This is EXACTLY where i am with mine. It doesn't work when damp. At all. PLEASE let me know if you come up with a sensible solution that doesn't involve driving to Coventry!

I had mine done by the dealer for £180 but they did lend me
a spare pod so the car was not off the road while it was away.
Returned the pod to them with the MAX speed reading 182mph after
a rolling road session

Fernies did mine, in a day at the same time as the service! why does it need sending away for a replacement LCD?

over three weeks.
