Hey Guys,

Okay, this is something that has been getting annoying for a while and it doesn't seem to be getting any better )

I'm getting a lot of vibration through the wheel - I've almost accepted it as normal but it wasn't like this when I first got the car and if the car goes in for a service it's fine for a day or two before the vibration starts again.

I've had new tyres and no bald spots there - what kind of thing causes vibration and is there anything I can do to fix it? I'm not talking about going over unusual road surfaces - this is vibration constantly and the steering just doesn't feel that tight. The steering wheel feels as if it's going slightly forward and backwards in front of me.

Anyhoo, for a complete engineering muppet like me - what kind of things cause this?

Could be that the wheels need balancing.

Isn't this done when new tyres are fitted?

It's been dodge before then and since then

Sounds like wheel balancing. I had loads of problems with my Tuscan with vibration and the Sagaris hasn’t been much better. TVR’s seem to be very sensitive to unbalanced wheels, especially at higher speeds.

Silverstone Performance have sorted the problem on both my TVR’s. Matt there knows how to balance wheels properly – unlike most tyre fitters. They are definitely worth a call if nobody local to you can sort it out.

When I bought my Griff from a dealer it had the same problem. Had wheels balanced to no effect. Tyres changed as a flat spot from standing was suspected. No improvement.

Turmed out that both front rims were buckled - not uncommon apparently.

HAAA - okay, get this - I think it's the pod unit rubbing against the wheel.

When I turn the engine on and am stationary it's still vibrating. If I push the pod upwards then it doesn't vibrate.

Clever huh

So I think that may be it - I'll check out how to tighten the pod and see if that's it.

Embarassed,

Ross
