My car, the Speed Six engine and idiots who don't use them.
Discussion
Hi folks, I just thought I’d put finger to keyboard and share some of my thoughts about my 6 month old Tuscan 2 and in particular the engine. I came to Speed Six ownership from a 4.5 V8 Chim and thought I’d made a mistake until I discovered life beyond 6000 revs
. It’s now done 16,000 miles in 6 months from new with no engine problems at all (am I about to wish I hadn’t said that
). It’s used everyday and I wake up in the morning wanting to take it out for a drive. I ran it in as per instructions of the dealer from whom I bought it, kept the revs very low for the first 1000 miles and then increased the revs used by 500 per 1000 miles driven up to 6000 miles at which point it went on to fully synthetic oil. The car is warmed up with great care every time it’s used. The point I’d like to make is I’ve seen various 2 and 3 year old cars for sale with less then 6000 miles on the clock and I know this may upset some people but I can’t believe the owners of these cars haven’t “seen what it’ll do” during their years of ownership even though the engine is not fully run in. Could this be a contributing factor in engine failures suffered? I believe these cars/engines will last longer used daily and not stuck in a garage for days allowing all the engine oil to drain from the engine components. Mine has been used very hard having done a number of track days with both myself driving and a friend of mine who has raced in the past and although I do worry if it’s going to survive every time my local dealer who is handling the servicing assures me all is well in the engine department. I have had extra oil changes performed on the car due to the hard use it has had but I don’t mind that due to the amount of pleasure it give me. So what I want to say here is use the car don’t leave in sitting in the garage and whinge about the engine longevity, run it in as it should be run in and treat it right when cold and it’ll give miles of pleasure. I’m waiting for engine rebuild time and I expect it to need one at some point but I don’t care, any car used as hard as this has been would be the same.

. ...The first kick seems to happen about 4000 revs on mine then just goes mental above 6000. Great isn't it
. I used the revs on an overtake with our F&C manager in the car on Friday and I think he would have grabbed the dash only he was puched back into the seat

I agree and although mine is not taken out daily it has a run every 3 days as a minimum. Not that it prevented a rebuild but it helps to keep the oil in the right places. Also its soooo much fun. The snow earlier this year was a bit interesting though
