I have Moonraker Black paintwork I was aware black shows the dirt but fine whispy scratches just seem to appear from nowhere do you guys have the same problem I am very careful when cleaning is this something I have to live with or is there a majic wax out there?....the scratches seem to be just on the surface lacquer....

Any of the coloured type wax would reduce the apearance of the scratches. Halfords own brand is good in my experiance. (had a black beemer for years and it always looked good after a polish with the black stuff)

Go into any showroom and look at black paintwork. At the right angle even brand new cars of any make show these whispy fine scratches I think its unavoidable, but at least your not alone. Must just come off the cloths

Thinking more about your prob. Try Autoglym, they do a "glass" finish that you put on after waxing. It is really good. Dont know if it will hide the scratches but worth a try.

Try a 'wax' as opposed to a 'wax polish', I did this using Zymol for your very reason and have been very impressed with the results, certainly better than with Autoglym which I used to use (Autoglym is still good stuff mind).

Danny you have to be extra careful when you wash the car that you don't get any, ANY, dirt in the sponge etc because after several washes you'll see the swirls where you've been washing - don't try cleaning your car if your in a rush!

Then you need to polish after almost every wash, even the chamois leaves a smear it seems, I use Autoglym Resin Polish (buckets of it) - it says it reflects the light out of any surface blemish and it does

Dark colours are a pain in the carbon can!

Just keep polishing that mother!

Glad you brought this up....I have Moonraker black and from new, it showed swirls. Tried Autoglym resin polish topped off with Autoglym clear stuff...some sort of polymer I think. Good, but I can still see the swirls. Think I'll try the black polish with the Autoglym clear.
