Any advice,

First dry day in weeks and yep .... no drive no steering and engine shouting for a blast - bastard !

Drove the car two days ago in heavy rain; when I started her up today the wheels were slightly blocked - likewise after car wash - gave her little rev's and then I noticed an absence of the power steering.
Checked a few things in line with my "knowledge" hmmmmmm.
Finally checked the power steering fluid witch was filled over maximum; normally much less fluid visible and from my first impression looked very thin(Water intake?)

Any suggestions?

Hmm - not sure the attached thread will help, but I had a tiny leak in seals within my steering rack which was causing noticeable leakage of power steering fluid all over the road. Car was basically undriveable and had a graunching noise when wheel was turned. Took the steering rack to be repaired twice for issue to be rectified.

One thought - may be worth turning the wheel side to side a little and then checking underneath front drivers side axle to assess if you are getting any steering rack leakage as this is where mine dripped. Any leak should soon be detected once the steering rack moves.

MK2 has electrical power steering pump, & there is a fuse for it I belive in the battery compartment (Like Tamora/T350 & Sagaris), could be worth a check. Power steering fluid is normally quiet thin.

Before you take the wheel off and the cover for the fuse by the battery do this.

go to the fuse board and check the 10 amp master ignition fuse No 35 on the t350, this fuse controls the power steering relay and if its blown you have no power steering.

If its the power steering itself don't panic its off a peugeot so it wont slaughter your wallet.

Let us know what the outcome is..

Hi,

I tried the No 35 fuse .... nadda; zero; .... and still a dry road grrrrr
And what an irritating location for the fuse board, if she was a porsche I would smash the thing.

a peugeot !!!!!!

Nick,

the wheel trick is planned for tomorow because my back is still recovering from the no 35 fuse. Oh dear ...

Tomorow I'll contact Mark Minne.

Thank anyway

Hi Engelborghs,

Sorry to hear about the power steering failure. I cannot offer advice, only empathy. My Mk2 Tuscan power steering pump failed completely in November. I was told it was from a Renault van [maybe same as Peugeot?]. Luckily it was fixed before both Gatwick TVR and the Factory had their more recent problems and I got it done under warranty.

At the time my dealer said it was highly unlikely to be a failed fuse [he was right, it turned out to be a failed unit]

I was told this was the first time the factory needed to replace this ultra-reliable product. You'll be number two then.

Good luck

Hello,

Phoned my dealer today : The problem was like NCE 61(Nick) said; the fuse near the battery compartment; It was completely destroyed by corrosion etc ..... No big issue but typically TVR MK-10 style

What a silly illogical idea to locate major electric systems in the line of fire from water jets coming from the wheel!!! First someone tries to fix the problem at the fuse board which is also easily reachable, isn't it ...?

Secondly another Belgian TuscanMK2 driver came back from a trip in France without power steering, so .... that's Three

Good news is; will get her back saturday .... in the rain
