New delighted Tuscan owner - what do I need rebuilding?
Discussion
Just sold my 97 Chim and bought a 2000 Tuscan with only 18,000 miles on the clock. It has had some top end work back in 2002 and has never had the clutch replaced.
I know I should have bought one with a rebuild but this was just looking at me saying "buy me" (Love at first sight) and was a bargain (see picture on profile).
What should I expect to have to rebuild on the engine, at what cost?
I've already budgeted for a clutch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I plan on getting the work done at Offords.

looks like the one james agger had and your right about the car they are very quick, everyone should have one [but secretly pleased they don't]
Tis the james agger one. Looks even better in the flesh (I think). Not picked the car up yet aas having a few bits done and I'm working away - big day on 17th.
Just preparing myself for the worse at the moment (Engine rebuild and clutch) to see if it is cheaper to do something now, proactively, before I have to do something due to some sort of catastrophic failure, reactively?????
Any advice???

Chris..... What makes you think the car needs a rebuild? If the car has had head work done in 2002, i would be happy with that, if you are that concerned take it to a dealer for another top end inspection to put your mind at rest, then enjoy the car, there are lots of cars out there that have had no work at all and S6`s with over 30k on the same clutch
don`t let all the "doom mungers" convince you that you will need to spend £££££££££££
Tony ( 2 S6 cars and nearly 30k miles

Tony, Nice Tamora!
Thanks for the reply, that's reassuring to know. I just thought it was a given that a rebuild will be required.
Do you (or does anyone) know the tell tale signs, that indicate that a rebuild is soon required. e.g sounds, consumption, loss of performance, smoke!, oil use etc?

Kev,
What a great idea and thanks for the invite. I live in Cambridge (Mill Rd), I'll be picking it up on 17th so looking for any excuse to take it for a blast. See you there. How many people usually turn out at your meetings? I used to go to a Lotus one that ended up being about only 4 cars - a bit dissapointing.

Saw a certain blue Tuscan in a Halfords carpark today (
), I was picking up a cigarette lighter adaptor to run iPod and satnav at the same time and a Haynes manual for the towbar I have just bought (came bolted to a 300TDi Discovery!), rumour has it Chris was after some reflex blue neons...
(joke), just had to ask if he was a member of the PH collective as most TVR drivers seem to be!
Just to say your Tuscan is lurvely, sounded really nice as you drove away, you must be well chuffed, nice one! It's in super condition, enjoy!
Drove an S once, brutally fast...one day perhaps for me!!!!

I was just picking up a bolt on spoiler and a sub woofer for the new car! Only joking, a bit of fuel system cleaner really.
That was my first proper journey in the new beast when I saw you, Leamington to Cambridge (home). I've never smiled so much, the speed of the thing makes you crap yourself each time you press the accelerator. More noticeable than the Chim is the attention, the Chim was louder (cherry bomb V8) but the Tuscan just creates audiences, already in one day of ownership I've been photographed twice and shouted out twice by tramps telling me to earn some money and buy a decent motor.
ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTED WITH IT, thanks for the chat and do take the plunge and buy one.
