Hello to all Tuscan PH'ers. Just taken possession of a 2001 4.0 in great shape. New engine with 380 bhp. So far great to drive - got to use it on the track last weekend as part of the ARDS test I was doing.

On the track I noticed that the analogue/needle speedo read c.10 mph lower than the digital reading at c. 80 mph. Which might be the more accurate reading?

Also, above 100, the needle went haywire.

I've gone into this TVR ownership thing with eyes wide open so no major gripes - is it possible to get the instrument pod recalibrated somehow?

I'll update my profile when photos available. Still have the 1980 911 and need to get used to rewiring my brain when moving from one to the other!

Cheers

Big Al.

Yep, they can be recalibrated had mine done a couple of years back via Fernies.

Not sure where you would get it done over on the Island though.

Good luck.

If the digital display flickers all the time it could just be the sender unit. Same happened on mine but it was still under warrenty so can't say how much it was, but from what I remember it was a drive in drive out job so shouldn't be too much. God luck

The first thing to try is to reset the air gap from the sensor to the reluctor on the diff. This will make the reading more accurate and should stop it fluctuating at higher speeds. Otherwise it may be that the instrument pod requires the speedo stepper motor replacing.
Hope this helps and that you enjoy the car.
Best regards, Tony
