Trouble selecting reverse! Could it be the clutch??

I'm having real trouble selecting reverse without crunching the gears. Could it be the clutch on its way out? It improves if I select 1st before reverse and seems to improve more when the engines warm.

always select a forward gear before reverse as there is no syncro on reverse .... hence the granch

It says in the manual for the car, its recommended to select 5th gear before going into reverse. They do crunch though if you just go straight into reverse.
