Driving along (spiritedly I admit) and on a heel and toe down change a horrible noise comes from the engine.
Oil pressure ok so seems like top end - the dreaded tappet/follower issue no doubt.
car has now got 20k miles, last had a full back-to-blackpool rebuild at 14k miles!

Mega bad luck mate - absolutely gutting.
I have to say that this story has finally convinced me that my TVR ownership is coming to an end after the Griff (unless I get an S - nice!). The thought of a car that looks the absolute DB's, but blows up when you try and drive it is ridiculous.
Really hope it's not as bad as you envisage....
