Coolant

Hi guys
When the book says you should aways check the coolant,every day,does this mean that the engine can consume some?

Possibly Don't check mine every trip only the long ones.

Get confidence in your car and check your levels when you feel it needs it.

Thats what i was thinking but i do appear to have a leak,small puddle in garage and noticely losing water

Paul,Make sure you're not overfilling, and when you park it's boiling off(my chimmy did it and I'm sure Tuscan does)...Look for tell tales signs around the 'water/expansion tank'...I know what it's like with a new car...you get paranoid about everything (sometimes not a bad thing)

Offside front of engine,wet patch on wide cross member at bottom,then on to floor.Seems to use it when engine is running then you see leak when stopped.I suppose approx loss is quater pint per 10 miles.I've been told it could be a lose clip on one of the pipes in that area,quite common i'm lead to believe.

Same problem, i think it is due to overfilling. After topping up and going for a spin, engine up to 92degrees (just before the fans start), I stopped the engine and 30 seconds later the car decides to spit the water out from the water cap. Make sure you grease the cap up to get a good seal and keep an eye on the temperature. After doing this a couple of times i checked the water level and it was just visible in the horizontal part of the filler pipe, seems OK at the moment. But i'm still going to get it checked out after easter. Hope this helps.

I have been wondering about this my self; if you top up the coolant to the level it says in the book, (I think its 10mm in the filler neck), my car boils over when you stop and the engine is 90c+. If you leave it so that you can just see water in the bottom of the filler neck then it seems to be fine. I think these cars find their own level and there needs to be some room for the hot water to expand. I bought a new cap just in case and it still boils out if you fill it too high. I have checked for other leaks and everything seems fine.
