Hi all

I will need a new gear box for my 03 Tuscan. I would prefer a completely new one as opposed to a rebuild or a reconditioned one. Had syncro on 5th gear changed for the (bargin - not) price of £1045 (at an indie) last year so don't want to start throwing any more money at fixing parts of it. It's had a good innings mileage wise so the sensible decision is to replace the whole lot. It's currently booked in with my local dealer in a few weeks time and they have sourced a new one for £1395 + fitting. I am happy with my dealer but wanted to see if I could improve on part price as I'll also need new shocks at the same time!!

Has anyone a recent experience of replacing a Tuscan gear box - sourcing and price.

As ever any help gratefully received.

Have a great Easter and enjoy your Tuscans !

I got a low mileage (3000) box from Douglass valley for £400
and my local dealer charged £300 to fit it.

I've got the TKO 600 fitted. It's overkill really (rated to 800bhp I believe) but there's noticeable heat reduction inside the car, and through the stick and it feels a whole load more solid that the T5.

I have a TKO 600 on the back of my LS conversion, you can have a choice of 5th gear too. either 0.63 or 0.80, i elected to have the higher ratio. it cruises at 2000rpm @ 70mph. Was around £1500 from the States, you will be doing well to bust it as the torque rating is 600lbs/ft as the name suggests.

TKO is a great box and I agree with all thats been said above. Its physically bigger than the T5 and in order to get it to fit it does require some modification to the existing bell housing and prop shaft. The output shaft is much larger than the T5's. The TKO box is well built and should last a long, long time.
I'm very happy with the overall feel of the TKO600 TVRCraft fitted in my car and as the others have said the gear (ahem)....knob does not get hot like the T5's does.
