oh yes...one week before the amazing good weather during the easter break !
it needs a new clutch and flywheel (not sure if thats normally separate or not) ?? current quote is 1400 !
anyhow....its being fixed at the mo so should hopefully have back in a few days !!
on to the question....seeing as it will have a brand new clutch, is there anything i need to avoid doing i.e do i need to drive it a certain way whilst its new ??
thanks

apparently it does...is this unusual then ?? i will post what the garage says when i pick her up.
i mentioned the raceproved clutch when i phoned up, but i think they had already sourced the parts...though they did say they had to buy a kit so perhaps it is indeed the raceproved one.
cheers,
p.

It's most likley to be the Race thingy I reckon
BTW who's doing the work..I see you are in Surrey local dealers?
Hi Paul,
I am not sure if it is "unusual" or not to be honest, just that it was never mentioned when mine went. I got the master and slave kit from CT and had Fernies fit it for less than a grand. I think the "superclutch" from autocraft is around the price you mentioned so perhaps that is the one you are having fitted (although I think that one requires a modified bell housing - perhaps that is where the "replacement flywheel" mention is coming from? Failing that, perhaps you are having a standard AP clutch replacement, like for like. Best to check with the dealer I 'spose...
Crikey...not offering much assistance am I?!
Cheers
Andy

Does it really need a new fly-wheel? Andy
It possibly does. The standard clutch assembly has springs shaped like a butterfly which assist in parting the friction plate from the flywheel and pressure plates. These springs tend to wear grooves in the flywheel surface. Whilst it may be possible to machine the flywheel it does depend on how deep the grooves are and there is a limitation to how much material can be removed from the flywheel surface.
The Superclutch does require modification to the bell housing, however it is slight and it is to accomodate the replacement thrust release. The flywheel also requires modification as the superclutch assembly is so much smaller and incidentally lighter than the AP item.
I agree with Andy its wise replacing the standard AP with a better alternative, this way you shouldn't experience the same grief in 20K or so miles.
Good Luck.
