HID'S get them now!
Discussion
Have fitted HID's to my MK1 from turborevs.co.uk and they are the best thing i have done to any car ever! They are so bright compared to the std bulbs. I have not even needed to use the main beam most of the time as they are so good. Perfect for late night spirited drives. Will post some pics of the new pattern one night.
I bought a set of H7 HIDs from Alan at Ace Parts - he posts on the Porsche forum, and offers discounts for Pistonheads members. His website is www.aceparts.com, although I just contacted him through his Pistonheads profile.
No problem fitting them to my mk1 - the job took under an hour to do dipped beam on both sides, and the hardest bit was taking the bonnet off without scratching anything. Performance is incredible, pretty much as good as the OEM HID lights on my year-old BMW.
Cheers,
Pete

I steered a little away from the ebay kits but im sure they are all similar, just wanted to be sure with poss electrical overheating in the engine bay etc. just make sure they are E stamped or TUV, C.E etc means they have been tested somewhere. Go for the 6000k bulbs as these are the closest to day light, dont look as blue or cool maybe but do the job of seeing more! Easy to fit, bonnet off, open headlight covers inside the wing. Remove old bulbs plug wiring harness into the existing powerplug you took off the back of the bulbs then, put them back into the headlight. Glue as i did the HID balast units to the wheel arch or inner wing which ever you prefer, and enjoy.! Oh and its the switching them on and off that reduces the life, once they are on the wear on the bulb is very little, so just dont keep playing switching them on and of.

It's simple... Take off the bonnet, unscrew the black covers on both front sides of the engine bay. You then have access to the lights. Take out the original bulb, a proper HID kit should have connectors that fit onto this, and it should be fairly easy to connect the kit together, as it all points itself out where it needs to be.
Took about 15-20 minutes on my car...
A pic with the HID's on:

That is the swordfish registration. I believe 4 with the same registration were sent over for the film. The original W998AFR was a factory demo car - I know cause that's the one I test drove.
Must admit my car is suffering from poor visibility with the lights on - even with the Gas Discharge ones on full beam. Might get the dealer to fit the HIDs at it's first service.

4 identical cars, only one registration plate. Still on the car as you can see

Does anybody have any experience with H4 bulbs? I've just bought a set off eBay (eBay item no: 250102191031) for £4.99 for my MKI Tuscan. You get 2x H4 (4500k) head light bulbs and 2x 501 side light bulbs. Apparently you don't have to make any modifications at all, just remove the old bulbs and stick these in instead? Does anybody know if this is true? Everyone is talking about H7s so I'm slightly concerned now!? Also, what happens about the high beam bulbs, can you upgrade these too?
PS. Have had my Tuscan for just over 2wks and I'm lovin' it! Had a Caterham before which was great fun but the is something else!

Definitely not? The advert clearly stated "TVR TUSCAN 00- XENON HEADLIGHT BULBS HID UPGRADE SET" and I have a 2000 tuscan. I checked to see if they had sold any others and what feedback had been left, it was all positive. I know getting to the lights is a bit of a hassle so I thought I'd check first.
Seconded. H4 WILL NOT fit a Tuscan. H7 bulbs are used for low and high beam. Unless you have a Tuscan S in which case high beam is Xenon HID as standard.
Also, 4500k is not a Xenon HID colour temperature. It's a halogen filament bulb colour tempertaure. Xenon HIDs typically start at 5500k and up.
