Look how much they cost and how much development went into them. The M3 engine is the closest thing to the TVR Speed 6 engine. How many of these have you heard of getting a lot more power out of the standard engine from simple mods without forced induction? Not many I can assure you. I've also heard numerous rumors that Ferrari are just as guilty as TVR are/were with their claimed power outputs.shadey said:

Bike engines can't really be compared to car engines. They rev to 18000 rpm in some cases. Honda's S2000 engine is a slight exception at 120bhp/litre but that has to rev to 9000 rpm to do it, is quite thirsty and is completely gutless unless thrashed. True, but they are more reliable and dont need servicing every 6000 miles and can last more than 20000 miles without a rebuild. The technology is better so is the quality of the end product. As for bike engines, its the same technology as a formula one car, just waiting for the everyday car to catch up. My wife likes the tuscan but you still cant beat the feeling of going past it on the back wheel. you have always got the power to weight ratio problem with a car which means you need to create alot more torque than a bike has too.

Shady, I've never met a bike that can beat me off the lights yet, a fella I know has a 1200cc BMW motor bike, he's always going on about it being sub 2 seconds to 60 and it being faster than my Tuscan, rubbish - even if it was sub 2 seconds to 60 you couldnt control it whilst trying. shapeshifter said:

I know what you mean, 2000 for 15 - 20 bhp does seem a little heavy, it aint ending there tho, I'm having a suspension upgrade aswell.
A bike will beat any car from the lights and will beat 99% of cars top end, 0-60 these days is not important, 0-100 is more relivant, and in the bike world, 0-150 is the proven ground. Problem is cars struggle to get there, and by time they have the bike has stopped. dont mean to be argumentitive but i have seen it from both sides. If you want to be silly about it a drag bike will do 0-100 in less than 1 second, no car does that??(i can see me getting in trouble here and i own a tuscan, be gentle)
