Dash Disaster. nearly!!

My last post was because of a knocking noise from the steering column.......

I decided to sort it today,

so, i took off the top dash with the lcd pod in it and unplugged it, so far so good, I had a good look around to see if i could hear where the knocking noise was coming from, definately not down the column or past the knuckle joint, so i put the pod back on to make sure it all worked, Lights on, it did and the start button turned all the dash on.
I then took off the pod again and the steering wheel, then marked up the centre just in case, and took off the bottom part of the dash, this was to help get to the four bolts holding the steering boss. this was tight, so i took that off................ TA DAAAAA, the three bolts behind this were loose, loose as a loose thing in fact.
After these three bolts were tightened and the steering wheel boss was re-fitted

NO KNOCKING NOISE!!

Great i thought, lets put the bottom dash and top dash/pod back on and see it all light up!
No lights
Plug the steering wheel in
No lights
Unplug the steering wheel,Take off pod, wonder where this little plug thingy dangling in the middle of nowhere goes ( 50 mins )
Plug the pod in again.
No lights
Look at the fuses, consult PH for fuse box diagram, remove EVERY fuse to check, all ok.
Still no lights.
Think, sod this ill just stick the steering wheel back on and have a go tomorrow.
Hey lets just push the start button for the 37th time.......................

LIGHTS!!!

Looks like the steering wheel needs to be earthed for the ignition to work......... ARSE!!
hope this might help someone not to waste their sunday afternoon and wanting to strangle the wife when she says 'youve been out there all day, are you gonna be much longer??'

my Tuscan's pod appears to be loose. I mean if I grab it and move it around there is some play I'm sure wasn't there before. I checked the screws underneath and they seem tight. Any ideas since you took yours apart..?

Good thing to have patience some times, I personally would have been eyeing up the hammer section.

I did notice that the 2 dome nuts and the 2 socket head screws were loose when i got to them, but when it all went back together it seems fine, dont know if this is the same set up as the mk1.
Also, the fixings were all set in resin, so it could be that all the bouncing around corners could have loosened the nuts in the resin enough to make it wobbly!! :bouncy:
