Oil pressure and knocking noise?

Hi everyone
Went out in my Tuscan yesturday and all of a sudden I started to hear a tapping noise, so I looked at the oil pressure and it was down at 14!!.
Stopped straight away and checked the oil level and it was fine?
Can anyone tell me what it could be?

Sorry to bring you bad news, but that's a very bad combination and probably indicates severe internal damage to the engine.

So what should the idle oil pressure be? My engine has just been overhauled by Torque RVT and the idle pressure is 14psi.

My oil pressure can drop to this level when I've been pushing and I'm told it's not a problem. Only happens when oil temp is v.high and is not accompanied by a tapping noise......

When mine is hot and ticking over I see 18psi. Was rebuilt by Autocraft about 2,500 miles ago.
