speedo transducer, DIY?

Can this be done as a DIY job? or better to get a pro to do it?

I think fitting the transducer is a DIY job (although they can sieze up in the threads sometimes) but I think I read somewhere that the gap needs to be set pretty accurately. Can't recall what the gap should be but a search might get you the answer, might need some feeler gauges to do it right....

that counts me out for doing it then! if it was plug and play I could do it, not if it needs setting up accuratley thought!

I heard the gap should be .5mm but don't quote me, if the sensor is like a proxy switch (which i think it is) then the gap would not be critical, as it doesn't want to be touching, and too far away and it won't work.
