"flat" clutch??

Wasnt sure how to describe this, but Ive started to notice every so often the clutch is sort-of "flat" the pedal goes straight to the floor with virtually no resistance, I can take the car out of gear but cant put it into gear. if I let off the clutch and try again it seems to work fine.

Is something about to break?

sounds like slave cylinder. Check clutch fluid level

I have a similar problem driving home tonight the handbrake light came on and buzzer sounded then clutch pedal went to floor (no resistance at all) The fluid is low so filled up but the worry is where is it going as usually they dont need topping up. Anyone had this happen and did it need a new slave cylinder

"yes" had it happen to me. The dealer rebuilt the slave cylinder. all ok after that.

Rebuilt slave cylinder.....why not replace it with a new one? In my experience rebuilt ones never last.

Warranty job i'm afraid. I had no choice.

Seems fine after a few thousand miles though.

I personally would not risk driving it until fixed, unless you fancy being stranded.

Is it worth changing the clutch while the gearbox is out the mileage is very close to 30K.
Also has anyone had experience of the Raceproved clutch and alloy slave cylinder. Does it perform better than the usual fitment. I only ask as the blurb says its "re-engineered " to remove some of the failings of the TVR original fitment

30K on the original clutch then yes, time to change. Also change the slave. Consensus is TVR clutches can go anytime after 20K, alhough it depends on how the car has been driven and if the clutch has been set up correctly during that time. I know of a few lasting well past 35K.

Raceproved clutches and slaves are supposed to be much better, but apparently in short supply, more discussion on this in the Cerbera forums.

Ive done about 600 miles since I noticed the problem and oddly it hasnt done it again since. I'll have it looked at when the car is in the garage for other stuff next month, to be honest if it does break and Im stranded I dont mind as I have the AA breakdown insurance cover so they pay the first £500 of repairing it!
