Engine mount, easy to change?

How easy job is it to change the engine mount on the passengerside. Mine is perishing with the manifold heat...

It´s not a major job. Drop the undertray off for access and make sure you cut the threads on the new mount to the same length as the old one otherwise you will not be able to get it into place.

Does that mean you need to take the weight of the engine off the mount or something t osupport it while removing the old mount?

Yes you need to ease it up to give room to remove and replace the mount. I used a trolley jack with a pad under the sump.

it took me 4 hours! even with cutting a few threads off the mount it was a nightmare, very frustrating!

Hmmm, really think it needs doing, well hoping that is the horrible rattling noise from under the bonnet. Im going to have a look today at what else may be rattiling, but its not when reving the engine, just when coming down the revs in 3rd 4th around 2.5k - 3.5 k really? Im thinking after looking back on some posts the engine is jumping around somewhat on its mounts, as its also worse on bumpy roads and speed bumps etc. But not when the car is not moving or just being revved up slightly.

WHat would a garage charge for changing the mount, 2 hrs labour?

Had mine done at the weekend with a few other bits at Track V Road in Clitheroe. They did an excellent job and it was 1.5hrs labour plus the part. There's a lot of messing about as you have to take the battery out etc to remove the securing bolts. It would be a nightmare without a ramp and for 1.5hrs labour charge I wouldn't attempt to do it myself - plus I'm a lazy sod. Mind you I did have to get up early on Saturday to take it there - but the roads were dry and fast with some beautiful scenery - so I quite enjoyed myself
