Hi folks. My Tuscan is sick! Looks like the gearbox is packing in, started with a real droning noise which got progressively worse over time. The box hasn't been stripped yet but sounds like it might be the output shaft bearings?

Either way, it seemd likely that a replacement box is the best way to go, as the labour involved in stripping my box is likely to cost as much as a replacement. I'm also aware that even if I replace the bearings there's probably something else waititng to go in a car that's done well over 30k miles, so I'd feel happier doing it once right.

I got a quote of 595+vat for a box from gearboxman.com, anyone know of better deals?

Further examination showed that the outer CV joints are also bad, and I expect the driveshafts to be poor too. Has anyone fitted the raceproved / clever trevor uprated shafts? Do they use different cv joints?

Where can I find CV joints from, I don't seem to be able to find any, just gaiters.

As if that wasn't bad enough, I think the clutch might be on the way out, and if the gearbox is coming off I should replace that now too. Raceproved release bearing and clutch?

Any feedback (and sympathy) warmly received!

Cheers,

Tom

Sorry Tom, I can only offer simpathy.
Have checked the usual suppliers like TVR Power etc.
I dont know what support you have in Scotland.

Tom,

Have you tried giving Dreadnought a call, maybe they might be able to help?
