Hi has anyone fitted Raceproved re-engineered Clutch and ally slave cylinder to a Mk 1 Tuscan. My slave cylinder has gone south and the clutch may as well be done while the gearbox is out (30K).I really want to know if there is any increased life from this set up or is it best to go the AP original route.

Hi,

I have the full master/slave assy fitted to my MKI Tuscan from Raceproved/Clever Trevor and I think most people who have had them fitted would say that they are well worth it. They are not too expensive and have been specifically designed to overcome the short-falls in the design of the original unit.

Your call obviously but there aren't many other options out there for a replacement...maybe give Keith Burgess a call in Clever Trevor to sound him out about how many units they now have in circulation etc, etc.

I have the cylinder.

Replace the clutch too or clean the existing one completely. Clutch fluid will be everywhere in the clutch and will make it slip

I'm in kind of the same situation. The bad news (from speaking to the guys at Clever Trevor and Trackcar solutions) is that the clutches aren't available right now, although the slaves are. Keith at Clever Trevor told me that a large number (I think he said 400? ) of slave cylinders (or was it clutches? confused I was in a very noisy airport! ) have been fitted with excellent reliability.

They're waiting on more friction material to build more clutches, but have a backlog to workthrough so won't be taking new orders any time soon.

It looks to me like the best available option for longevity is going to be to get the upgraded slave and a standard clutch for now.

Cheers,

Tom.
