Even though I own a Tuscan, I don't really know too much about the engine sizes and I was hoping for a bit of clarity from some of you clued up guys?

I own a 2000 Red Rose 4.0 Tuscan 1, am I correct in thinking that the normal Tuscan 1 was 4.0 also?

Is the Tuscan 1 S also 4.0?

I have seen a 54 plate Tuscan 2 advertised as a 3.6? An 06 Tuscan 2 4.0 and an 06 Tuscan 2 S 4.0?

I just don't understand it all. Am I right thinking that the Tuscan 1 S engine is the same as the Tuscan 1 Red Rose and are these the same engines as in the Tuscan 2 S? Is the standard Tuscan 1 4.0 the same engine as the standard Tuscan 2 4.0?

If so, where did the 3.6 come into play and why would they use this smaller capacity engine? which I presume is the same engine as in the T350/Tamora?

Tuscan Mk1 - 4.0 litre 360 bhp 2000-2001
Tuscan Mk1 - 4.0 litre 360 bhp or 3.6 350 bhp 2002-2004
Tuscan Mk1 Red Rose - 4.0 litre 380 bhp 2000-2001 (some were modded to RR later)
Tuscan S Mk1 - 4.0 litre 380 - 405 bhp(depends on year) 2001-2004
Tuscan Mk2 - 4.0 litre 360 bhp or 3.6 350 bhp 2004-2006
Tuscan S Mk2 - 4.0 litre 380+ bhp 2004-2006

I think that's about right. Confusing heh!

Thanks for that - as clear as mud!

So, in my naivety can I ask why they bothered to fit the 3.6?

I think the Speed6 was originally supposed to be a 3.0 and a 3.6. After TVR took the design in-house, it became a 3.6 and 4.0.

I compared my 3.6 (Mk2) with my mates 4.0 (Mk1 S), the 3.6 seems to rev quicker.

I bought what I thought was a 3.6, but when I eventually got the V5 it said that the car is 4 litre..... So actually I now have no idea what it is. Don't much care either - awesome whatever it is !
