Rear roof catches/slidy things

One of my roof slidy things (drivers side) is not coming all the way back and whilst I can get the roof off (just) it is only going to be a matter of time before I do some damage.......never mind the aggravation of getting it back on again !

Any ideas/ cheap, self administered solutions ?

There is an adjuster for these under the boot carpet:-

any idea how much of the pin should enter the hole in the roof - I reckon only about 2cm of the pin goes in on mine and that includes the bit that's tapered. The roof fits very snuggly and securely and I have no real worries that it'll cut loose but as someone's posted on this topic, I'd would be interested to know the experiences of others.

about 3/4 of the tapered bit on mine, you can adjust the tubes the pins go into on the roof panel

Hi I've got a similar problem on my (2001) Tuscan. Driver's side is fine but nr side pin will not retract far enough back so I can't take the roof out. I don't want to strain anything. I have checked inside the boot and the threaded adjuster (bit like brake cable adjuster on a bike) is already all the way back. It's as though the cable is too long. The only solution that I can think of - short of taking it to a TVR specialist is to remove the cable and manually pull the pin back to get the roof off and then see if I can adjust it at the other end.

Any ideas anyone?

I had mine done last year. The original cables stretch, & once all the adjustment is taken up you're (technical term) bued.
Did think about replacing them myself but there is a fair amount of fiddling around involved, the high level indicators may have needed removing plus some of the trim on the roll bar, so Racing Green did it.
I dont recall how mich it cost, cables were replaced with non-stretchy ones, but I think it was 2hrs labour plus parts. I don't have my service documents with me but could look it up for you tomorrow if you like.

I can't be bothered to read the rest of the thread but when mine wouldn't retract it turned out that that the bracket was a little bent out of shape. The metal is very soft and bent back easily enough and then it was fine.
