Brakes...Stupid question

Sorry about this but just moved and Tuscan hand book in a box somewhere.

The brake light keeps flickering on, on the pod. Is this worn brakes indication.
If so, must be the front as just had the backs changed.

Can someone confirm.

There are no brake-wear indicators - on a TVR?!?

It's either low brake fluid, dodgy handbrake 'on' switch or loose connection.

Probably along the lines of: unplug....plug back in....problem solved.

Deffo check the fluid level though.

I had this on my car.
It was the first warning of the seals for the clutch cylinder giving way for the second time.
(The brake fluid and clutch fluid are the same - you can find the top up bottle above and inbetween the accelerator and brake pedal)

There is the possibility that your brake pads are wearing out such that there's less brake fluid in the top up bottle.

Mine was simply a poor connection from the handbrake switch. If you remove the centre console and handbrake leather(?) gater, you'll see a poorly designed switch that is basically a contact that rests onto the metal of the handbrake. When it is applied, it either breaks or makes (I can't remember which) the circuit and lights the light on the pod. Give it a clean with very fine emery paper or similar and then use WD40 or vaseline to protect it. Should be ok after that.

I am sure it will say Mobile ?????????

I checked at Lunch time and it is a little low.

Later handbooks state Carlube DOT 4 Synthetic break fluid, eariler ones will no doubt show Mobil.

Hi Just to cheer you up !!! my fluid level warning light came on last week but fitted new slave cylinder and clutch assembly and now its gone out and all it cost was one arm and both legs

just to let my lovely but sad husband SoCalled know that if he thinks he's spending any more money on that bleep bleep Tuscan this year after i just bought him SP12's for his birthday plus the service plus the engine rebuild ect etc, he can think again.
It might keep him happy but there is a limit

Well OscarT, its like this, I spend most of my time in North America or Germany and am only home about 6 days a month.
No need for devorce when you have the perfect marriage.

I realy miss my Tuscan though these Mustangs are fun but not in the same league.

got a 19 year old daughter just as mad about TVRs as her father. All friends not as as me. Just seen his last comment about missing his Tuscan when he's away, have you got the names of them lawyers. As i might be in needing a good defence when he gets home
