guys, these threads are full of great info especially for someone as technophobic as me but can someone tell me how to install my tricklecharger and it's safe use. james agger is trying to get hold of a manual for me for all the other basic stuff but until then i'm trying to pick everything up from here.(unsuccesfully).
It depends on which tricklecharger you have. If it is an accumate, they usually come with either a set of crocodile clips - which you just clip onto the battery terminals, a cigarette lighter plug - which you plug into the cigarette lighter, or a pair of wires (usually one red, one black). If it is the wires that you have, they will probably have lugs fitted to the ends so that you can bolt them onto the battery terminals. So then you simply bolt the positive wire (usually red and will probably have an in-line fuse fitted) to the positive terminal and the negative wire (black) to the negative terminal. Leave the charger somewhere in the car and just plug the mains into a garage socket as and when you need to. If it has a voltage switch to switch between 6V and 12V, obviously you need to make sure it is set to 12V.
sorry, forgot to saydon't even know where battery is! am i right in saying above passenger footwell? thanks again for your input but can you also help me with oil dipping? once again checked on threads and feel a bit confused as to what is right and wrong. spoke with james who tells me it's in the manual that's coming. every time i dip it cold there is not a stitch of oil on the dipstick. i ran it for a while this evening and then did it again but still nothing. a bit paranoid with it maybe but genuinely don't know and don't remember worrying about these things with the griff or the cerbera.
Ok mate, yes the Battery is located in passenger footwell. Easiest way is to get the front nearside wheel off, remove the splash guard and there it is.
With regards to the oil, you want to get the engine right up to temperature, in fact get it really hot so that the engine fans have kicked in. Ideally the temperature oil will be 70+. What I then do is to open the drivers window fully, leaving the engine running in neutral with the handbrake on (obviously). I then open the bonnet and get a rag ready. What I then do is reach in through the drivers window and turn off the engine. Then run around to the engine and using the rag (so you dont burn skin), undo the oil cap - wipe the dipstick and then re-insert it but don't screw it in. Then pull it back out and check the level.
You really want to do all this within 15 seconds of turning off the engine.
Oh and obviously make sure the car is on level ground - I usually do it at the petrol pumps.
One final thing, almost all Speed Six engined TVR's that i've had hardly show any oil on the dipstick when they are cold. But when they are hot, you will probably find it at max. That is when it should be at max.

Might be a really duff question but wondering if anyone can help.
Came to check the coolent level on the Tuscan today, as i do religously, and low and behold I can't get the pressure cap off, first time this has happend.............
Anyone know a practical easy way to get this off has it contracted with the heat?
Ive tried molegrips and cloth but am nervous about breaking the cap ??

I have an accumate and got an adapter which fits into the jump start socket located under the car in line with the front of the passenger door. When i get in i just plug it in and forget it till i take the car out again. This ensures that the vehicle always has a fully charged battery even over winter
