Another LCD thread - this time a Mk2

I've got an early Mk 2 Tuscan with the LCD display only and the Cerbera type steering wheel.

Anyway, the display on the LCD sometimes goes all blank, other times I just get a load of weird graphics. Other times it works fine. Throughout all of the above the odometer always works correctly - even though sometimes I can't see it.

As soon as I turn the engine off and back on, the display comes back to normal.

Does it sound like the LCD is at fault or is it a software issue, or ECU problem, etc?

Occasionally get the exact same problem with mine. I think it must be something simple like a loose electrical connection or something. The way to fix it (till the next time) is simply pull the steering column adjustment lever and push the steering wheel either in or out (yes, it goes in and out as well as up and down) until you get the display back.

I had this. It was simply a loose connection. My dealer fixed it during a routine service and I have had no problems with it since.

Me too. Have to do this about once every 3 months.

Had it too. Did it first a few weeks and restarting the car sorted it out, then again the other day when it lasted for about 20+ mins (including restarts) but seemed to disappear after the car had warmed up a bit.

Coincidentally it had been cold and raining the night before it went odd the most.

Mine now keeps doing it fairly regularily - getting on me nerves a bit

Don't really fancy stripping it down myself - doesn't look anywhere near as easy as a Tuscan 1!
