I have an oil leak, although i think it's because i keep the oil topped up and sometimes must put in too much, and therefore it's the excess which i see on the garage floor.
But, i'm not totally certain.
I've been underneath a couple of times but i cannot see where the oil is coming from.
The engine itself is clean from the top.
Would anyone recommend Steam Cleaning the underside of a Tuscan (Mk1 / 2000)?

Thanks in advance,
Nev

I just repaired an oil leak. Was the pipe that runs from the oil header tank to the engine. See driver's side, metal joints with black rubber pipping in between. Had been rubbing on chassis and eventually wore through. New pipe = GBP40. Worth doing asap as oil will leak at quite a pace which obviously isn't great for the engine, nor the tyres!

Hi,

actually wasn't able to source the right pipe, even from Power. Apparently there are 5 different versions for the Tuscan alone.... So my local garage suggested taking the broken pipe to a specialist just round the corner to have a new one made.
Enter very quaint old-school workshop with specialist equipment to crimp the joints etc. Interesting to watch! 10 mins and 40 quid later I had a new pipe. Happy to help do same for you, but hopefully u can find similar pro in the UK.

Where is the oil dripping from? If it's the driver's side of centre then it could well be the oil pressure sender. The originals tend to fail very frequently, as in I'll be on my 5th in a couple of days.

Underneath there is either 1 or 2 vertical holes leading up to the uderside of the block i think. It started from around the drivers side hole but has stedily progressed to little drops in no particular pattern. It seems to be dripping now from the protective tray like it is sitting on it and comes off when i park on an incline.confusedconfusedconfused

You can just see the pressure sender through the drivers side front wheel and there will be oil on the chassis tubes around there if it's leaking.

Cheers BB,

I intend to try and give it a clean down tomorrow. I'll have a look for that.
