Car hesitating and seems to be missing after service by TVR
Discussion
Hi All,
Tuscan went into TVR main dealer near Guilford for a EFI fault and service.
Picked the car up this afternoon and found at first when the car went above 500RPM that it lost power /hesitated before accelerating but now it seem intermittent when accelerating.
Spoke to TVR dealer and ask why this wasn't picked up on the test drive that they should do after the service ? (That what i've been charged for !!) He told me that my tyres were near the legal limit and knowone wanted to get 3 point ... I reminded him when he advised about the tyres(when I picked the car up from dealer) that they were infact legal and he agreed at the time.
He didn't mention when I paid that the car hadn't been tested!!, I've I have know I would have tested local before driving half way home before finding out that there is a problem ...
I am currently waiting a call back from them !!
Anyone have any advice what the problem could be ?? HT leads are spark plug ??
Any feedback most welcome
Many Thanks
Andy
P.s EFI turned out to be Lamba sensor number 2

Andy,
Did the garage mess with the throttle bodies or pots when they had it? Not sure...
2001 'Y' reg tuscan.
Would they do it for the service ?? before service car needed my right foot to tick on, now ticks over at 700-900 rpm by it's self . Would they play around with the throttle bodies for this ??
Thanks for replying .
TVR dealer have now said that they will send a driver to pick car up if I have 4 new tyres or i can have a courtesy car if I wait until thursday.
Anyone have a tyre brand to recommend and best price ??
Many Thanks

It could be that the seal around the ht leads wasn't done correctly and moisture has got in causing the spark to short.I've had this after a couple of services,i had exactly the same symptoms.Just needed drying out and sealing correctly.
Maybe they tested it when it was dry then washed the car and thats when the water got in.I hope it's something as simple as that.

Grimbo,
They had just power washed the car... maybe that's it!
To the other guy about chilling out.. I expect a main dealer to get it right first time!! The only reason I pay them £70+ P/H is for their skill and knowledge. Now if they service a car and charge me for the after service test drive I expect that to be carried out... I don't expect to pay £900 + and get my car back running worst than when it went in.

Well car is booked back in for thursday as i need a courtesy car but aleast they sending some

Another thing i've notice that twice the car has failed to start ... needs to be left for 30 mins and then it starts. I thing that its over fuel . does this sound right ?

Could be that the starter motor doesn't run correctly when hot any more. I had this problem. (
Stalled the damn thing going up the drive to the MOT place and wouldn't start again
) since I'd had problems with starting while hot before, decided to rebuild the starter and its fine now.
