I've just been reading an old copy of 'Car' magazine which had a feature on the [then] newly launched Tuscan. The car was clearly a prototype, but still had most of the features of the Mk 1 Tuscan.

It was painted a flip copper color with a grey interior, and had some concave spoked 16" wheels.

Clearly a tuscan, but the details were very different, the service bonnet came further up the car, the alloy speedo was a different shape, and the interior lacked a central consol, also the rear indicators were mounted in a verticle tube running up behind the rear screen and the nose lacked the cheese-cutter holes too, looking more like the Mk 2!

Just wondering what had happened to this car and if it survived the usual TVR chainsaw?

Don't think it survived , I remember seeing the front end of this car in the TMS workshop & I think it was sold when they had their closing/clear out sale.

I think the same car was used to advertise some paint that TVR were using .. I remember seeing a tuscan similar to that which you're describing on a poster/advert on the wall of the paint shop at harrogate horseless carriages. the wheels were really lovely, wonder why they never made it onto production cars?

A few pictures

Paint was quoated as £600 per litre & 9 litres required for the car.

Those are the pictures used in the 'Car' article, and agree about the plain looking centre consol, not one of it's best features.

Also, those wheels are the same design as used on the pale yellow 'speed 6' prototype, could they have shared a chassis scratchchin

Thanks for posting the pics, and it sounds like another development car which got chopped up. I can understand why they wouldn't want these being released to the public, but its a shame that they were destroyed.

Cheers

Just googled the Griffith Speed 6 prototype and the wheels are the same in design, but not in stud pattern.... Paul

The original early MK1 'periscope' dash was even worse....

Christopher Neil has an early Tuscan on display in their showroom. Can't remember if it is the same car, but I believe it was a prototype.
