Replacing steering Wheel

Guys, seen a nice Momo steering wheel on Power site and wondered how easy to remove and replace old wheel?
Any Advice appreciated

I changed mine for one of these...



I had to re-drill the existing boss as the PCD of the mounting holes was slightly different. I did this in situ as it (the boss) refused to come away from the splines on the steering column with no small amount of hammering and levering...

Apart from that, the only other thing to do was to space the wheel out from the column / indicator switches slightly with some washers between wheel and boss.

The old horn push button was retained from the old wheel and fitted straight in.

I fitted one of these Isotta wheels. Total pig the get the steering boss off, ended up having to break the b.





Damn comfortable and goes well with the interior.

Im in the same position, I have the power steering wheel but havent got it to fit yet. Where did you get a replacement boss, is it a ford/vauxhall item? I couldnt get my boss off either but I'm not to keen on drilling in situ, after lining up the holes it looks like I could get this very wrong.

I tried removing the centre bolt and then using a hammer but the thing doesnt even budge

The steering wheel does look nice but would look even better if I could get it in the car!!!

Any further tips?

The only way I managed to get the boss off of the column was, nip down to tool mart and get a bearing puller. This was thin enough to get between the old boss and the dash. The new boss for the isotta wheel was from an opel. Unfortunatly it cost around £80. I have a spare if your looking for one.

Apologies I am not particuarly mechanical

Is it just the centre nut on the boss to remove? I tried undoing the other 4 nuts but they seem to just spin round, I tried to get behind them but that looked impossible. What broke whne you got the boss off?

If that boss will fit a momo trek r then I would be interested, how much do you want for it?

If you are fitting the momo trek, all you need to do is remove the allen screws around the centre. You dont have to remove the boss.

Hi all i've just fitted the momo trek R, had to drill and tap new holes, could'nt get the boss off either, and even if i had the holes would'nt have lined up, don't think i've done any damage, and if i want i can put the std TVR wheel back on

I also had the Momo Trek R fitted (the one Power sells).
The boss had to be drilled, and cost me just an hours labour at my dealer.

Obviously make sure it is put on straight and don't over tighten the hex nuts (keep the allen key in the car, so you can check their tightness every so often)

A great upgrade and suits the car well.

I have the Trek R in mine but don't have a photo and Power fitted it. Looks great and does what a steerign wheel is supposed to....
