hi all,anyone changed the t5 box for a tko 600 ? would love to hear some stats/figuresalso good/bad points.cheers all

Its a bigger box physically so you need to modify the exhaust system to get the pipes past the box. Also you have to cut off the bell housing mounts and weld new mounts to suit the TKO box. To do the job properly you need to have the box jig set up and accurately located centrally to the bell housing. The TKO does not have a sloppy shaft location aka the T5 so you run the risk of wrecking the bearings if the box is not mounted spot on. Its not really a cost effective option to be honest despite the fact that the TKO is a solid far superior box. Have a look at www.gearboxman.co.uk this guy offers beefed up internals for the T5.

I had a TKO600 CR box fitted to my T350 racer. The TKO is a bigger and heavier box than the T5 and you'll need to modify the bellhousing and propshaft to fit it plus fabricate a rear mount. The shift is very positive and the ratios gave good in gear performance(even with 315bhp!!!!!)

I'm planning on running the car in Class B next season with a normally aspirated engine and the TKO offers more than I need so I've purchased a T5 dogbox. The TKO is for sale in the classifieds at the moment as a package with the bellhousing, prop, superclutch and modified flywheel. http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/285959.htm

thanks for the responses..i feel a lot of thinking coming on.
anyone had a set of uprated gears from gearman,do these gear sets increase the strength of the box i.e. enable it to take more power and torque or do they just make it more reliable under current use oh no i feel a headache coming on
