Money No Object Upgrades...

What would you have done to your Tuscan if money was no object (say you had 20k), and this money had to be 'wasted' on the car?

No suggestions of '5k on the car, 15k on an extension', or 'sell the Tusc and put the money to a second hand Aston'...

What mods would you consider to add the most value to the car and what would be the best VFM?

I know you could blow the lot on a monster engine conversion, but let's say - for arguments sake - you'd had a rebuild 12k ago and you're quite happy with this side of things (I personally think it's quite fast enough with the power it's got!)

Possible shortlist:-

1. 'Freshen-up' latest spec. engine rebuild - £6k(ish)
2. Latest shocks / springs - £2k(ish)
3. Gas Discharge light upgrade - £500
4. Upgraded seats (this sort of thing...) - £1k
5. Sports Exhaust - £700
6. ...Erm...

Already got the de-cat / re-map / CCC thing done.

Not sure about the sports exhaust though - I've heard a few Cerbies and Tuscans with them and IMHO they are uncomfortably LOUD!!!

Not a Tuscan owner, but I'd suggest a set of super light wheels, because I think they'd make the greatest difference to the ride quality and handling. Finding some that look right is somewhat harder though!

Yes, that's right, a 500bhp LS6 with a TKO 600 box, chassis tidy up (do any Tuscan owners ever think of this?) flip bonnet conversion, Ohlins suspension, and if required a quick tidy of the paint, wheels and interior....

I only know of one V8 conversion - this one... - and as a one off job I reckon we're talking silly money!

The one piece bonnet seems like a good idea - any prices for this?

As an aside - mine had a brand new chassis less than two years ago - the last (replacement) one to come out of the factory before it closed.

I've had difficulty thinking how I would spend the money as my car is near perfect. However...

Full adjustable suspension with magnetic damping and setup button to switch between "Commute and Race" modes.

One complete set of spare wheels with track rubber

Full head up display including SatNav

Heated seats! (makes winter open top motoring much more pleasant)

ah yes forgot you had a new chassis, you might remember I met you at the place that gave my chassis a tidy in february this year, scary to see what it was like(just surface rust though) even though it was garaged from new and rarely driven in wet/salt roads...but looks fine now!!

If my engine goes again an LS6 will be top of the list to go in and yes it fits, I've been measured up already so to speak!

Flip bonnet conversion is offered by the place biggriff had his done, think scole engineering in norfolk, and Speedeight I think might offer it also.

It's not difficult to do, if someone offered a nice job at about £499 I reckon people would snap it up. Well I would anyway!

I wanted these on my Tuscan as they were great in my Chimaera but TVR factory said they could not fit to the new tuscan seats, I accepted that as a TVR "fob off"

best value for money and best to enjoy the tvr, take the 20k and us it all on a driving holiday.

take in a few country's and stay in nice hotels and have yourself some memories you will remember for life

anything you spend it on will not gve you a return imho

LS6 is a nice idea - I will have to look into this in more detail...

In the meantime, the shortlist is:-

1. Freshen-up engine rebuild (LS6 - depending on cost...)
2. Latest shocks / springs - Intrax or Ohlins
3. One piece flip-up bonnet conversion
4. Carbon fibre air box
5. Silicon hoses
6. Pre-oil system with new cam-cover
7. G.D. Headlight conversion
8. Possible sports exhaust depending on noise levels...
9. Better seats - heated maybe...although I think this may be OTT for those of us with naturally insulated (OK - FAT!!!) arses!!!

...plus a couple of ideas...

1. Electric power steering conversion - supposed to be well worth the meagre outlay...
2. Traction control - can't be a bad thing?!?

The driving holiday is a nice idea, but (as previously stipulated) the money must be blown purely on the car...

Sounds like TVR BS to me.

I can't see a problem with the seat back. All you would need for the base cushion is a wire coming out and a connector for the times when you wanted to remove it.
