Tuscan 2 Convertible
Discussion
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Just wanting to know a few things about the Tuscan 2 Convertible. I'm thinking of changing my Tamora for one. Does anyone know anything about history of the red one for sale on Autotrader through the TVR Centre? (LK55 HCH). Was it the car on Top Gear with James May and Jackie Stewart!?
Was there a change in the center console design during the short Tuscan 2 life? They also have a dark green one for sale, slightly less money and the radio console is different. Why so? And there does seem to be some difference in price. Is this because there aren't many of them, thus sellers aren't sure where the market price is?
Also, how many Tuscan 2 Convertibles were built? If anyone around the West Midlands has one, would you be interested if I bought you a beer in showing off your car to me? Don't seem to be any in the immediate area for sale. There's a few hard tops, but no convertibles.
Thank you in advance.

There are two very slightly different center dash consols. Some have the hazzard light button centrally, some (like mine) have this located between the headlight and fog light switches. The centrally mounted ones have the heater LED's over the dials which makes them slightly easier to read...
As for numbers built, there is a seperate thread ( http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... ) which covers that, but they do appear to be quite rare.
The top-gear Convertible was the factory demonstrator which was at Drivestyle in Harrogate for a while, reg number was PO55 BKD and it was also used for the EVO mag test.
Buy one, they realy are jolly good....
Paul
ps I know of a very nice reflex charcoal one which is available in the North East. Early car with very low milage...

Early Tuscan 2 Targas have the Tuscan 1 (or similar) dash with speedo pod, and different steering wheel. When the convertible came out in Sept 2005 all Tuscans adopted the convertible dash at some point after, by 2006 all dashes are the same. Agree with Paul, the convertible is a bit special, but I would say that, I've got one too. One way of telling an early one is the headlights surround is black, later ones match the body colour.

OK. My mistake. The Tuscan I was comparing it with was a Targa, not a Convertible. What is there either side of the radio. Is it just black plastic or is there switch gear? Can't make it out very well on the pictures.
I'm coming up to Barnsley in a few weekends time. Where abouts in the North East is it and what is it? Colour etc.
Glow worm, loving the colour of yours. Not a fan of the light silver/blue colours. Like good solid reds, navy blues, maybe black.
Any real issues I should know about?

Only annoying issue I have is the 'diff shunt', tend to get what sounds/feels clunk from the rear at town traffic speeds in higher gears, keep thinking my wheel bearings are going, change down and your not aware of it. Technical people tell me it's something to do with Diff ratios, close ratio gearbox and the change to BTRs 8" diff from 8.5"...I've not the technical knowledge to comment...it just annoys me (slightly)....
My cars perfect, as with all TVRs , that doesn't mean faultless, because then it wouldn't be a TVR and what would we have to talk about....It would be a BMW or Japanesse if it was faultless and boring.

Hi Will. i have owned 5 tuscan mk1 and 2s, targas and converts, i now have a mk2 tuscan 2s this is by far the beat tvr i have owned, on the first mk2s the dash was a bit of a nightmare and prices reflect this, go for the latest pod (i.e t350, saggy dash) i know of the red one at barnet just ring and ask for mark he will tell you all about it, if you can stretch to it go for a convert (s) as they were £10,000 more when they first came out as were all esses, and you dont have to pay that much for a (s) against a none (s) in todays market if you get my drift..............
Thank you for that. Not to sure on the colour. But I've just found this red one at David Gerald.

Hi William
Saw this car the other day when I was at DG's.
Look's great in real life and not a bad price either. What I would say though, they are getting a lot of customers calling in at the moment because of all their new stock, so if you are interested don't hang around.
Go get it.
Bishy.

I wonder if DAFTLAD has just bought this to add to his stable... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/211793.htm
He did say he fancied a green one ....but sadly he's now quit PH.
I've been told from a good source that PO55 BKD is now in Austria with Smelly, I suppose that's the same as a w/o. The plates tax expired 1st Nov 2007 and is now unlicensed, so , it's off the road, left the country or a write off. But the plate is still associated with a TVR and hasn't been released, I would have thought with a w/o the plate would have diappeared, assuming DVLA notified????.
