Hey all

Passenger side wiper just stopped working on the way back down from Scotland this week. Luckily drivers side kept working and got us home safely.

Has anyone experienced the same, is it a separate motor or linkage system etc?

I had something similar on the drivers side a couple of months ago.
The linkage arrangement places alot of strain on one component which snapped. The motor was fine though and my dealer eventually sourced salvage parts to replace the rods.

Good luck - McChuck.

First thing to check is that the allen key nut connecting the arm to the motor has not worked itself loose which is all accessible without removal of the big bonnet!

My linkage keeps falling to bits (or used to). If it's not the allen key which holds the arm in place then you are going to need to take the bonnet off and then the wiper arms (disconnecting the washer tubes), then undo the large nuts under the arms and remove 2 small philips screws from either side of the long bit of bodywork (which has a name that I can never remember) which runs across under the windscreen. When you have done all this the bit of bodywork should slide out and you will immediately see what has happened if the linkage has come apart.

I would advise that you take all of the linkage apart (if it will easily come apart) and reassemble it with a mallet, very hard, as you will be really cross once you have put all those bits and pieces back on and another part of the linkage falls off !

Once you have replaced the linkage and the bit of bodywork you should test as it is really irritating when you have the bonnet back on and then you test them and they don't work properly, aren't aligned properly, fall apart again because you haven't got the alignment just right etc..............all spoken from painful experience. Having finally got everything back together for the 3 or 4th time they are now fine and as this is pretty much teh only thing that has been a pain in 3 and a half years I'm not complaining to hard !

The splines have completely shredded on both the wiper and the connecting unit under the bonnet. Shall try and source the parts this week.
