one fan running constantly

As above one of my cooling fans is running constantly after fitting my new slave cylinder, it starts up when I turn the ignition on, think it might be something to do with the air con. any ideas?

faulty trinary switch? there is a pic of it on clevor trevor website, so I am sure you can trace it from that!

This might not be much help because I'm wracking the old grey cells trying to remember what it was when mine did the same a couple of years ago it was intermittent at first then all the time with ignition on, I think it could have been a faulty temp sensor. My understanding is that they default to on if there is a fault anywhere so you don't overheat, and therefore although it'll take longer to warm up in my case anyway I was told it shouldn't be a problem until you get it fixed.

I'll try having the bonnet off later and see if I can find the switch. I've had this before but normally sorted itself out after a run.

sounds like a faulty trinary switch.
The switch is inside the near side front wing I think.
I was told that the aircon must be drained to change it and that this is the standard symptom.

Try cleaning connections on the trinary switch 1st



Then think about air in cooling system/ECU water temp sensor at back of engine between cyl 4-5

Think the water sensor is ok as getting ok readings on the dash. where is the trinity switch located, how do I get to it? I had a quick look and couldn't see it.

The dash temperature sensor is under throttle body No2 in Grahams picture,the ECU temperature sensor which controls the fans is the one between TB's 4 & 5, the dash one can read ok, but the fan control one can be U/S.

As for the trinary switch this measures the pressure of the gas in the A/C system, although I am not sure of the location, but would think it's some where near the A/C compressor.

Had this on my Saggy.

It was the Trinery Switch located in the aircon system at front of engine. The aircon needs to be de-gassed and re-gassed to get the switch out.

Found the trinity switch, it was inside the cover on the offside, I cleaned the connection but has made no difference. I'll try to get a new one but will need someone to drain the system first.

only had them on twice so far, but i dont know the threshold for activating them...
