Finally picked up my Tuscan

As per the title, picked up my car today. Been the longest week in the world waiting for today but at 11:30 this morning I finally got to pick it up. Only down side was the weather, pissing with rain so can't get the roof off, otherwise it's been all smiles.

Took a little time to get into the boot for the petrol cap, (luckily practiced in the drive first to save embarresment at the pumps), but once in it was no bother. Love the looks of the car, love driving it, love the noise and love the attention already. Best thing I have done in a long time is taking the plunge and buying it.

Only niggles, using that stupid immobiliser key. It's in the stupidest place ever. Drivers seatbelt jammed for a while but it's released itself now. Oh, and the passenger window has taken to dropping normally when you press the button but when the door opens, the window opens fully and only closes halfway when the door is shut. Anyone got any clues how to sort it? Nothing major but I just don't fancy sitting in the car waiting for folk to get out so I can close it for them.

I'm off all weekend so if the weather is fair, i'll give it a proper clean and polish then get some pics up.

What do you mean by the position of the immobiliser key? Is it not on your key-ring?

The windows can be adjusted, by the dealership if necessary. I would also recommend some silicone lubricant on the rubber to ease them; this certainly helped mine when one wouldn't fully close.

Mean the little push in key on the dash if you don't start the car within 9 secs or so. Fiddly as hell, probably get used to it.

The window was working fine, read in the book if you open it further when the door is open, it won't automatically return to the same place when closed. It was working fine up until about 16:00 this afternoon then went a bit pear shaped.

I've never tried it! I just press the key-fob button again if I am too slow (I normally am as I use a steering wheel lock).

Not sure I understand what you mean about the windows. The door-opening action is only "a little bit down, then back up". It won't fully close the window if it was open.


Edit - I've re-read your post re: the windows. I suspect that the glass is sticking on the rubber on the way back up. Try the silicone lube.

If car re-immobilises it self due to taking too long to start it then simply turn key in igniton till battery lights etc are on then press button on key and you'll hear the fuel pump kick in!! Can't help with window sorry, sounds like it just needs re-syncing though, shouldn't be difficult.

Edit to add - seat belts in all 3 TVR's I've had have been prone to locking easily, I found mine did it when either a) parked on a slope or b) foot on brake only way is too move away slightly untill it frees up!

With regards to the seatbelt, it freed itself eventually abot a mile down the road. Nothing major and nothing I can really do about it so not going to worry.

The window again is something that is trivial really. Used to go like this:,


Press Button, window would lower about 3/4 inches then door would pop. Get in or out, close door and Window would go back up. Sorted.

Now:,

Press button, window lowers about 3/4 inches then door pops. Once dooe pops the window now go's right down. Close door and window closes to about 3/4 inches from closed. Either have to close it using controls or if i'm lucky, use key fob and alarm and it'll close most of the way eventually.

Nothing major really, just want to fix it. If i messed it up by moving the window with the door open like the book says, reckon closing the window with the door open would fix it?

Your door window problem will be either:
1. The microswitch under the chrome panel(where the door closes onto the body) is loose and needs tightened/adjusted.
2. The door encoder has failed/is wet, this is inside the door panel, which can be removed by 2 or 3 allen key bolts inside the door pocket. The encoder will either need replaced or check the connections and seal with grease or a little plastic bag to keep water out.
3. The door controller unit, which is infront of the gear stick under the centre console.

Very likely to be 1 or 2 above.

Use the keyfob holding the button for a second to disarm the immob.

Seat belts can be a pain sticking, live with it or replace it.

Stink weather to get your car, so have fun but take it easy in the wet!!

Is it a Mk1 or Mk2...If it's a Mk2 be careful not to put the window up to the top with the door open (it shouldn't let you do it...but mine did), problem is your door then hits the 'A' frame. Everyone seems to have fun with TVR windows.... Alarming/Locking the car or sending windows to fully closed position resets the controllers (maybe).

Thanks for the help whitey, reckon it could be number 2. It was working fine for the first couple of hours but then it started messing around and as it was raining pretty much all day yesterday, reckon that's the favourite.

Not planning on driving the car in the rain so once it's sorted, shouldn't have problem again. Just couldn't resist yesterday since i'd just picked it up. Was scared to accelarate hard in case it went a little tits up, lol!
