I was sitting next to a guy in a pub who rather patronisingly stated that his Griffith easily beats a Tuscan from 0-60. Now I have seen drag races between a standard Tuscan 4 litre car and to be frank it was like having a piss higher competition against a dehydrated cystitic geriatric - as in the Tuscan won hands down. Same bloke claimed the Griffith does 0-60 in 4.1 seconds? Now can someone confirm whether or not he was talking shit?
TVR themselves quoted 4.1 secs to 60 for the Griff 500, and 3.8 secs for the Tuscan S. 0-60 times are a largely irrelevant benchmark, however, and having swapped my Griff 500 for a Tuscan S last year, let me assure you, and the pub bore, that in the upper speed ranges there is absolutely no competition whatsoever. I've found the most tangible difference between the two cars is in acceleration times above 100mph, at which juncture I'm afraid the Griff is blown clean into the weeds.
This will not prove anything but it sounds and looks good.

Most TVR's will be fairly even up to 60, as said once above 100 the Tuscan will start to pull away from the Griff. Tuscan's do seem to be able to launch better without loads of wheel spin, think the lower torque figure helps with traction and the higher revving engine is what gets the slightly quicker time.

A Tuscan S mk 1 was officially tested by Autocar in late 2003 & with a 0-60 time of a 3.6 seconds & a 0-100 in almost 8 seconds dead then an amazing sub 13 second 0-100-0 & thumped the quickest Noble at the time to boot as well...
I heard a lot of inklings that the press car was 'special'.
In the way, it was a one off, made to be the press car and was a bit more powerful than the standard with suspension mods and stuff.
I've got both so know for sure how things stand on a drag between the pair.
In answer to the question about the griff getting to 4.1 seconds is a defo yes!!! Once you know how to accelerate in them they sit down and take off. I have managed to get the chim below 4 secs on a number of occasions and sub 10 secs to 100.
As for what is quicker, the Tuscan S will leave it standing. The Chim will set off quicker but its quickly realed in and with the added benefit you don't change gear till 60mph makes it even more definitive.
There are a few Griffs and Chims that will hold their own with any other TVR but these tend to be modded in some way. Because the Chims going to be my ony Tiv I'm turbo charging it to give something like the buzz the Tuscan gave.
You will find that the only thing that will beat the TVR your in is probably another TVR!!!
