How long does a standard clutch last for with resonable use?mines on 18000 and i wondered how much longer it will last for and is there much warning when its about to go.

Mines done about the same mileage and seems fine, have been wondering the same thing tho. Also is it a gradual failing or do they let go with a bang

I know of one T350 that went at 11k miles, another T350 at 24k...One sign is leakage I believe, where and of what I'm not quite sure. I just go to the experts. You're even more paranoid than me ,Paul.....Keith

Mine went a few months ago at 25k miles so don't worry too much. The annoying thing was there was no warning it just went on M6 on way back from Lakes.

mine failed after 5k, depends how well it has been looked after, mine wasn't but thought as much on the test drive!

Most clutches seem to fail because of snapping fingers on the diaphragm or leaks from the slave cylinder. Clever Trevor sells uprated versions of both which I recently fitted to my Tuscan, seem to have a improved design on both so hoping they will last a long time.

42K on a friends 2000 RR car he had from new, and still fine when he sold it with the 42K on it. Had a couple of slave cylinders replaced during that time. Oh and 9 engine rebuilds.

I replaced mine at 22K when the engine was out, but it was still fine, but of course you never know when the fingers will break.

My original clutch went at around 23K miles. Replaced with master and slave from CT and have done 14K miles since.

So possibly on borrowed time,but when it does go its bound to be at a inconvient time or place.O well i won't worry about tomorrow too much then.

Seems up to 25k is pretty normal but as above it really depends on how it is used / abused.

I would strongly reccomend anyone replacing their clutch to replace the slave with the CT /RP uprated one at the same time, there is no sense in having to go in there twice.

mine's done 26k without issue. The previous owner and I chatted about the longevity of the clutch (it having done approx 20k at the time of my purchase) and he was of the view (working for well known TVR main dealer) that if you stamp down on the clutch, rather than pressing down on it (if you know what I mean), you are more likely to snap the fingers.

He was also of the view that the clutch on a Tuscan should be no more prone to breaking than any other - so longevity is just a fact of useage/treatment than design (despite what people say about the fingers). Who knows?

Ha! He was wrong. (although implying stamping on the pedal is bad would be correct if it was not correctly set up in the first place.)

This clutch fails due to poor set up, and bad design. Hence why Clever Trevor and raceproved redesigned it to work.

budget for your slave cylinder seals to go every 10-15K and clutch fingers every 20-40K depending on how hard you drive it.
