Can anybody help with finding new, replacement or a fix for sheared cogs that the stepper motor runs to move the heater flap? thanks in advance.

you can buy a new stepper motor from most of the TVR dealers etc, www.clever-trevor.net is one place. Not sure if you can replace the actual plastic cogs or not.

see these two threads for info, and if you are taking it all apart please take photos and post them on here to help us all out! I will be ripping mine all apart again sometime soon.

My dealer replaced the stepper motor at the beginning of 2006, it was very noisy. It's now not switching from hot to cold or vice versa, I'm hoping it's the grub screw that holds the flap being loose as I can hear the stepper motor operating ok, and it should be fine as almost new and hardly used as I dont use the heater much etc

So my plan is to take it apart and hopefully it will be a minor fix, just a pain to get to and save me lots of cash rather than paying TVR dealer to do it!

I found getting to the stepper motor really easy on my car, also the heater matrix wasnt sealed in. The four times Ive had it out I replaced it without sealant no probs. Having had the sheared cogs a couple of years ago, Ive just been " jamming " the flap open or closed depending on the weather. If I cant source a way of fixing or replacing the cogs, Im considering some sort of manual operated cable routed inside the car. this should be a workable temp fix.
