Raceproved pre oiler

Tried this in the speed six forum but no joy.

Have been looking into how to stop the oil starvation problems on my speed six and have spoken to Clever Trevor about the raceproved Cam cover with Pre oiler.

I have heard a few people have these. Has anyone had them fitted? Does it improve oil pressure on idle?

I am tempted by it as it would seem to eliminate some of the problems with the old speed six.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

No direct experience, but my understanding is that it improves oil supply (flow) rather than pressure.

The pre oiler would be handy but i think my car suffers from oil starvation when really hot so would want a constant supply while running. You can very occasionally here a knock when idling which I assume is due to the oil being hot and not lubricating the cam etc.

I seem to remember someone had tried an accusump or similar system to what you mention and it didn't work very well at all. I think the issue was based around that the sp6 needs so much oil initially to prime and lube all the rotating parts that you'd need something far bigger than the fire-once systems on the market like accusumps. There's some data floating around somewhere of how long the top end of a sp6 is running dry for after a cold start, i'm sure it was into the tens of seconds rather than just 2 or 3 seconds or so but whatever it was was a blinking long time. There's a few PHers got RP cam covers and pre oilers on now, hopefully one will pop up with their experiences. We had one on our T350 engine for the end of last season so it has definitely been race-proved lol!

While this product is no doubt a good idea in principal, does it really solve the S6 problem(s) and is the cost worth the benefit(s)?

Can they prove this?

Is it worth fitting to an older already worn engine etc etc

Is there any point fitting it to a fresh rebuilt engine with advertised faults ironed out? etc etc

No one yet really seems to have a "proven" solution to the S6, companies simply offer warranties, but not that many owners do big mileage.
