Squeaking rear screen - quick question

Hi all,

I know this has been covered before but the search facility isn't working this morning again...

My rear screen squeaks quite a bit so I brought some silicon spray yesterday. Do I spray this directly onto the rubber seal or should I put it onto a cloth and rub it in all the way around?

I spray mine onto a cloth and then wipe round the seal.
The can i have comes out at a very high pressure, and would go everywhere if applied directly onto the seal.
The silicone lubricant spray certainly helps to reduce the squeaking, but have found that you have to apply it fairly regularly to keep it sqeak free.
The answer, is to leave the rear window in the boot, it certainly improves the noise from those rear speakers

Unfortunately haven't had a chance to take the roof or window out yet, I probably won't do for a while considering it was snowing this morning!

my screen squeaks because it rubs on the boot edge so i stuck some weather strip on the underside of the boot edge no more squeaks.

Hi Mate, when i has my targas i found that vaseline worked better than anything else hope this helps

Hey lads,

Good idea about the strip on the edge of the boot lid. Previous owner had already added some velcro to the top part.

I've found the silicon spray to be pretty good. Put it on all the potential areas that could cause noise and now it's perfect. Will probably need to re-apply once a week though.
