Boot sticking.

Guess Who, when you push the badge on the boot that says Tuscan, Is it supposed to pop open on its own? without ME! having to pull it up at the same time it makes the noise that its going to open, (If you get what I mean) And does any of you guys have any trouble with your boots.

My Tuscan does the same thing. You kinda have to pull the boot at the same time as when you press the button it is just firing the solenoid(the sound you here).
It is a pain in the backside when your hands are full. I am using my Tuscan as an everyday car and so is used for everything and the boot is used all the time.


It doesnt bother me anymore tho as when u turn the key in the ignition

ah sorry. I dont think it is supposed to spring open. You have to manually pull it

I think they are all a little temperamental. Mine usually takes 2 or 3 activations of the solenoid (you can hear it clicking) before the latch releases the boot. When it does, the boot just releases, it doesn't rise up any more than a few mm, it still needs lifting manually...

I find pushing the plate as close to the centre as possible helps.

Hey,

I find that you have to use two hands to push the centre of the button in as it's pretty stiff. It only pops up a bit as others have said, then have to pull the lid up yourself!

Yeah, mine doesn't pop open, just got to get my fingers in between the lid and the car. Bloody sore though if your hands are cold and wet, lol!

Racing green do a mod to make it actually pop open, but I doubt it's a cheap mod, as the car I saw it on, it looked like they add some sort of popper/solanoid mechanism which I doubt would be too quick and easy to fit.

Lynn, another tip for you, don't slam your boot shut, just close it and apply firm pressure to the edge above the catch. This is because the FORD lock just needs the spring loaded (solenoid activate) bar to catch on the rotating latch. If you just press down firmly you'll hear the latch engage, far easier than all that slamming and is likely to do less damage.
Also make sure you know the "Emergency Entry Procedure" and have tested it ,need to know if your doors don't open (flat battery syndrome)... e-mail me from profile if you don't already know.

In my mark 1 the solenoid went the emergency entry cable was disconnected this caused me huge problems.

Usually just unlocked the mechanism and had to lift with my other hand, so far on the Mk2 () it seems to work much better.
